SUMMARY:Cobble Hill Association (CHA) Town Hall: The BQE; A FUTURE VISION
DESCRIPTION:Cobble Hill Association (CHA)\nTown Hall: The BQE; A FUTURE VISION\nThursday\, February 27\, 2020\n7 – 9pm\nPS 29: Located at 425 Henry Street\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease join us – All are welcome \nThe time is NOW to advocate for a FUTURE VISION of the BQE.  We want and need a comprehensive and transformative plan along this corridor—one that can become a model for neighborhoods where highways have divided and polluted communities.\nAt our Annual Fall meeting in November\, Comptroller Scott Stringer asked the community if they wanted him back to talk more about what is possible for the BQE.  The crowd overwhelmingly responded: YES. He will be back to give more detail and expand the discussion on February 27th. Comptroller Stringer wrote an Op-Ed that was published yesterday in the New York Daily News.  It gives you a very good sense of what will be covered and discussed at the meeting on February 27th.

SUMMARY:City Council BQE Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Tomorrow morning the City Council will hold a press conference followed by a hearing on their newly released report on the BQE (below.) We encourage members of the community to attend and show support – 9AM at City Hall Park.\n\n\n\nCHA Statement:\n\n\nThe Cobble Hill Association (CHA) is thankful for the work the Council has done\, with Arup\, to write a comprehensive report of the BQE’s history\, many failed attempts\, recent proposals and the constraints of transformation. Speaker Johnson ensured our coalition and communities were included in the process and engaged in meaningful dialogue with the Council and Arup. The CHA embraces the council’s recommendations and effort in helping bring a comprehensive transformation of the BQE closer to reality. We are enthusiastic about the transformative possibilities of covering the Cobble Hill Trench and removing the deadly exit and entrance ramps in our neighborhood and will advocate for a City/State Partnership governance strategy. We look forward to our continued involvement with the Council to reshape the future of the BQE\, Brooklyn\, and New York City.\n\n\nEvent details:\n“The Future of the BQE”\nTuesday\, February 25\, 2020 \nPress Conference – 9:00am – City Hall Park (South of City Hall\, Manhattan)\nPublic Hearing – 10:00am – Council Chambers at City Hall\, Manhattan \nCity Council Transportation Committee\nChair\, Ydanis A. SUMMARY:Join Us at the CHA Annual Spring Meeting!
DESCRIPTION:Dear Cobble Hill Community\,\n\nGreetings!\nMay marks the month to renew all memberships\, which run from May 1stthrough April 30th and must be renewed annually. This is an election year and members living in Cobble Hill with current standing are eligible to vote for new officers at the annual meeting. Renew or join Here on our website. We encourage you to attend our Annual Spring Meeting\, May 17th at 7pm\, where we will report on our recent accomplishments. We will also have State Senator Brian Kavanagh and Councilmember Brad Lander join us to discuss the BQE\, MTA and the Construction Period Task Force. The BQE Design-Build legislation –much to our delight—was recently passed in Albany. The CHA also worked to create a task force to oversee construction on the LICH campus to monitor and manage its impact on our beloved neighborhood. (Special thanks to our president\, Amy Breedlove\, and congratulations to her for being named by Senator Kavanagh as a New York State Senate Woman of Distinction for her tireless efforts on behalf of the CHA.) The CHA will continue to implement and support popular neighborhood events including the annual Halloween Parade\, holiday caroling\, and summer concerts in Cobble Hill Park\, along with maintaining the beautiful park itself. \nFor nearly 60 years the mission of the CHA has been to preserve and protect the historic integrity of Cobble Hill as advocate and liaison on behalf of the neighborhood to elected officials and city and state agencies as well as to enable and support various activities\, which benefit the community. The association runs on volunteer efforts\, membership dues and donations. Our communications go to you as a member of our mailing list.  Thank you for being engaged and please renew or join today–your financial support and participation are essential to ensure that we have the funds to embark on Cobble Hill’s ongoing and future challenges. \nSign up HERE. \nWe look forward to the coming year and thank you for your past and future support! \nLeslie Cohen\nCHA\, Membership Secretary
