Amanda Nichols is an attorney and philanthropist who works with non-profits focused on quality of life, education, and cultural opportunities for families throughout Brooklyn. Born and raised in South Florida, Amanda moved to New York to attend New York University and never looked back. After receiving her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and completing a district court clerkship, Amanda and her husband Patrick moved to Brooklyn so she could walk to her Brooklyn-based job as a law clerk to the Honorable Reena Raggi of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Although they only planned to be in Brooklyn for the year, Amanda and Patrick fell in love with the borough and decided to set down roots. Amanda then spent three years as Senior Counsel in the Appeals Division of the New York City Law Department, where she gained an in-depth knowledge of City agencies, rules, and regulations. Since leaving the Law Department, Amanda has used this experience to serve Brooklyn in her roles as the President of the Cobble Hill Association, Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Board member at the Red Hook Initiative, member of the Brooklyn Museum Board of Advisors, and as a member of the Brooklyn-focused giving circle Allinbklyn.

Working in book publishing, Katharina is a graduate of UW Madison and has her masters from NYU. She is passionate about access to books, literacy, and eliminating book deserts. Tom and his spouse, Rhonda, have lived in the BoCoCa area since 2007, and moved to Cobble Hill in 2010 as their first child was about to be born. They are raising their family—three kids (ages 5, 10 and 12) and an energetic puppy—in Cobble Hill because they love the community, from the day-to-day pleasures of seeing friends and familiar faces outside PS29 and walking the neighborhood, to the special events like the Halloween Parade in Cobble Hill Park and annual block parties. When Tom is not in Cobble Hill, he often can be found in Manhattan, where he practices international arbitration at a global law firm, or hiking or skiing upstate. Before attending law school, Tom worked for a conservation group in Ecuador from 2000 to 2003. Tom is looking forward to becoming more involved with the CHA and its safety, schools and trees (watch out lantern flies) committees, among others.
