After two weather related cancellations, our fingers are crossed that we will finally be able to showcase the Andrea Wolper Trio on July 9th! Singer and songwriter Andrea Wolper has been called “a brilliant musical storyteller,” a singer with “a masterful command,” who “brings songs to life, no matter what their source.” A mainstay of the New York jazz scene, she has appeared in top clubs including the Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Birdland, Mezzrow, the 55 Bar, Zinc Bar, and she tours in the U.S. and abroad. In addition to leading several of her own groups, Andrea records and performs for other notable artists across jazz genres. Her newest recording, “Wanderlust,” is receiving rave reviews, noted as “an early candidate for year-end ‘Best Of’ lists,” and “an album that “reminds the listener of the difference between simply good and truly exceptional.” Living on the border of Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill since 2002, Andrea will appear at Music in the Park with her longtime trio featuring two in-demand musicians: the guitarist Michael Howell, and the double bassist (and Andrea’s husband) Ken Filiano.  www.andreawolper.com
