Brooklyn Marine Terminal: What’s Next
On September 22, 2025, the BMT Task Force met and voted 17-8 to move the Vision Plan to the next stage of the General Project Plan process. As previously announced, the Cobble Hill Association voted in favor.
Below please find updates on the next steps, including opportunities to get involved with the CHA’s work as part of the Advisory Task Force, and how you can provide direct feedback on the Draft Scope of Work.
BMT Advisory Task Force & CHA BMT Working Group
Consistent with the governance commitments in the Vision Plan, the BMT Task Force has been dissolved and replaced by a new Advisory Task Force (ATF). The ATF will provide input on refinements to site circulation, design guidelines, stormwater management, open space programming, and more. The CHA has accepted a seat on the ATF (an opportunity that was open to all Task Force members, regardless of how they voted).
Because it is still unclear how the ATF will operate, the CHA is shifting to a BMT Working Group model to better tap into neighborhood expertise and allow us to adapt as the process unfolds. Draft Scope of Work and Public Hearing Information

With the approval of the Vision Plan, the City is now kicking off the environmental review process to evaluate how the proposed development could impact the environment—including traffic, air quality, noise, and other factors. To initiate this process, a public meeting known as a “scoping hearing” will be held. This hearing provides an opportunity for the public and interested agencies to comment on the Draft Scope of Work (DSOW), which outlines the framework for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), including potential environmental impacts, alternatives, and mitigation strategies.
The City will offer two hearings:
- In-person: Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 6 pm at the Joseph Miccio Cornerstone Community Center Gym, 110 West 9th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231. Please register using this link
- Virtual: Thursday, October 30, 2025, 4 pm via Zoom. Please register using this link
In addition to the scoping hearings, the public can also send written comments on the DSOW to the Mayor’s Office using the contact info listed in the DSOW through the end of the day on Monday, November 10, 2025.
